Our Trainers
Joe Botha
MBA. BBA. MI.He has done just about everything there is possible to do in the telecom industry. Not only that, he has also intensely and relentlessly been involved with all aspects of optical fibre communication networks since way back in 1984. That being so, he has chalked up unaccustomed insight and veteran understanding of how fibre odds and ends work. He has also lectured at the University of KwaZulu-Natal on topics such as Telecommunication Networks, Management of Information Systems, E-commerce and currently, teaching a handful of optical fibre and telecom interrelated courses.
Stephen Pointer
CFOT CFOS/IBrings more than 28 years of extensive telecom experience to the party and possesses a proven track record in the construction, service activation and maintenance of structured cabling solutions. He has been involved with the planning, installation, restoration and maintenance of fibre optic services and networks since 1984. When he is not at work, he can be found fishing, racing his off-road bike, hurting himself at the gym or doing a Jimi Hendricks impression on his guitar.
Piet Retief
CFOT, CFOS/D/H/I/THe began his career in the telecom industry in 1984. While serving in this capacity, he gained specialist experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting and installation of high-capacity long and short-haul telecommunication equipment. He has led many optical projects from concept through design and deployment. He also has unmatched experience in the design and deployment of FTTH networks - leveraging P2MP or P2P solutions. Those are his skills and if you don't like them, don’t worry too much…he has many others.
Kevin Botha
CFOT, CFOS/D/THas been involved with the planning, installation, restoration and maintenance of fibre optic services and networks since 2010. He specialises in teaching about optical fibre technology, installations, fusion spicing and testing.

Students will study best practices and design alternatives for long-haul, metro, access and FTTH PON networks
Outside Plant (OSP) Project Specialist

The primary focus of this course is to provide a comprehensive coverage of the best practices for the deployment of optical communication networks. Trenching, duct installation, air-assisted installation practices, ADSS installations and much more is taught with lots of hands-on practice
Fiber Testing Specialist Course (FTS)

Expansive theoretical coverage and all-encompassing hands-on activities, is the key focus of this advanced testing course. FTTH, PON, iOLM testing, setting up pass/fail thresholds, save test results, launch and receiver test leads, interpret pass/fail readings, OTDR testing, gainer and exaggerated loss, IL testing (source and power meter), etc.
